Think Pink
It's that time of year again: October! What's so great about October other than the beginnings of fall and Halloween? Well, probably the most important thing about this month is that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Did you know that one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime and breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among women? (National Breast Cancer Foundation) It can even occur in men, though it is much less common. Imagine 8 women in your life that are important to you -- your mother, grandmother, sisters, aunts -- and now realize that one of these 8 amazing ladies will likely get breast cancer at some point. We should all be aware of how to test ourselves for breast cancer, what to do if we suspect we have a problem, and how we can help those in need.
Please take a moment to read some more about the disease and DONATE to the organizations that seek to cure, treat, and educate about the problem:
- The National Breast Cancer Foundation
- Susan G. Komen
- The Breast Cancer Research Foundation
- Dana Farber Cancer Institute
I will be sneaking pink into my wardrobe as much as possible this month as a beacon to show my support against breast cancer and I want to urge you to do the same. Show that you know, show that you care, and show that you fight like a girl. Here are some awesome products and stores that donate portions of their profit and have promotions going on to donate:
- "Fight Like A Girl" Cuff Bracelet
- OPI "Pink of Hearts" Nail Polish Combo
- Pale Pink Lace Peplum Top
- Proudly Pink Set of Makeup Brushes
- Ann Taylor LOFT
- Forever 21
- Lord & Taylor
- Bloomingdale's, Anne Klein, Clinique, Macy's, Papyrus, Sephora, Tory Burch, and more!
(I wore a pink blouse from H&M, pale pink tweed skirt from Oak73, a jeweled statement necklace from Ann Taylor LOFT, white pointed-toe heels from Aldo, Kiel James Patrick pearl bracelet, and carried my white leather Kate Spade envelope cross body purse.)
