In a Venetian Style
After leaving Florence, we drove to Venice, where we stayed for a few nights at a beautiful hotel right on the Grand Canal. It's a magnificent city, though considering my general aversion to boats and water, I'm not sure I could handle more than the few days. But I do love exploring and getting lost, wandering past new cafes, taking a gondola around as the gondolier sings "Volare" in an accented vibrato, and stumbling into shops laden with hand-painted masks or plush velvet shoes and handbags.
(I wore a white wrap top from Banana Republic, turquoise JCrew chino shorts, brown braided belt from Target, gold monogram Marley Lilly necklace, brown Schettino loafers bought on Capri, a turquoise paisley silk scarf I also got on Capri, and my straw bow hat from the San Lorenzo market in Florence.)
