Tahitian Style
From the first day in Tahiti, I was hooked. Yeah, it was a little overcast, but the water was so blue and the air was so warm and everything was lush and beautiful. We stayed in a bungalow over the water at the Le Meridien resort, so I could just walk right out onto the balcony and we were over fish and sharks and all array of coral and organisms. Pro tip: if you sprinkle breadcrumbs down over the water, the fish will flock around in droves. Our resort boasted the largest sandy-bottom pool in the South Pacific (though that was about all it had going for it other than its incredible location). We spent our one day in Tahiti kayaking around the lagoon in the morning then on a guided tour in the afternoon where we saw waterfalls and botanical gardens and learned a little more about the history of Tahiti. We didn't spend a whole lot of time in Tahiti and the next day we headed to the port to board our Windstar cruise ship -- we would spend the next 11 days sailing around the South Pacific. Because what's the best way to see an island chain? By boat, of course!
