We did not spend much time in Barcelona but we tried to make the most of the time we were there. I'll be up front in that I am not a huge fan of Barcelona and haven't been since my first trip there when I was younger, but I tried to give it a second chance. This time was admittedly a better experience and I found myself liking certain areas of the city, like the artsy El Born. Here are some of the top places to check out even if you only have a day in the city.

Park Güell -- A park in the hills above the city designed by the famous Catalan artist, Gaudi, whose name you will hear a lot of in Barcelona. Make sure you buy tickets online ahead of time. When I went I'd assumed it was a normal park like most and was open to visitors, however you have to pay for a ticket and should do so before you visit.
La Manual Alpargatera -- Buy yourself tons of infamous handmade espadrilles at really cheap prices. So comfy and cute, they make great souvenirs.
Museu de la Música de Barcelona -- A less popular attraction, this museum boasts some really beautiful architecture and the music hall is used to host famous musicians from around the world.
El Born -- A neighborhood known for its artistic and hip reputation, there are many cute boutiques and places to explore.
Bridge over Carrer del Bisbe -- This faux Gothic bridge was actually constructed in 1928 and designed to blend into the Gothic style of the area.
La Sagrada Familia -- Likely the most popular sight in Barcelona, this cathedral designed by Gaudi has been under construction for decades. Though I personally do not like Gaudi's style at all, it is certainly worth a visit to decide for yourself.
Casa Milà -- A home designed by, who else? Gaudi. Worth a visit if you're interested in more of his work.
Fundació Joan Miró -- A cool and modern museum founded by artist Joan Miró to showcase his work and that of other 20th- and 21st-century artists.
Museu Picasso -- If you can deal with the lines and really love Picasso, this museum has a great collection of his early works.
The Green Spot -- A really delicious vegetarian restaurant right near Las Ramblas.
Disfrutar -- A very popular and trendy Spanish restaurant that has been named one of the 50 best in the world. You will definitely need to make reservations ahead of time.
Celerí -- I wish I'd been able to get a reservation at this trendy and exciting vegetarian restaurant. I have to say I was impressed how many more options there were for dining since my last visit to the city and there were actually some impressive vegetarian options, Celerí being the most popular.
Lasarte -- The only three star Michelin restaurant in Barcelona, this renowned restaurant serves elegant and creative tasting menus that people from all over come to try.
La Pallaresa -- A very popular spot for breakfast, they serve churros, hot chocolate, and various baked goods to start your day off sweet.
