The 10 Best Ice Cream Shops in NYC

Sundaes & Cones

Hands down and by far my favorite place for ice cream in the city and quite possibly the world. I've been going here since high school, when I attended a photography summer camp in the city and was introduced to this spot by one of the counselors. It's seriously so good and has my all time favorite ice cream flavor -- banana!

Amorino

Okay, technically it's gelato, but it's so good it had to be included. And who doesn't want their cone to be shaped like a flower?! I get the exact same thing every single time--raspberry, chocolate, and speculoos. I love the combo of fruity and chocolatey!

Van Leeuwen

In addition to an array of classic and delicious flavors, Van Leeuwen also has tons of vegan-friendly choices as well. Honestly some of their dairy free options are even creamier and more satisfying than the original.

Big Gay Ice Cream

Not just your basic soft serve, you can also get your cone dipped in various toppings. It's a tried and true favorite for any hot summer day.

Ice and Vice

This edgy ice cream shop is certainly outside of the box, offering flavors like Bath Salts and Opium Den. If you're looking to try something completely new this is your place.

Milk Bar

The Cereal Milk Soft Serve was designed to taste "like the milk at the bottom of a bowl of cornflakes," and it does not disappoint. It's a unique and delicious combo of sweet and salty. And hey, if you're in the mood for a cake as well, the bakery has got you covered.

Oddfellows

Bored with those everyday ice creams like chocolate and vanilla? Head over to Oddfellows, possibly called odd for the varied flavor combinations offered each day. You never quite know what you'll find but you can bet it will always be yummy!

Ample Hills Creamery

With tons of unique flavors for the kid in all of us, Ample Hills is a tried and true spot for delicious ice cream no matter your taste. They also have a few locations around the city other than their main one in Brooklyn, so you can grab a bite no matter where you are.

Brooklyn Farmacy and Soda Fountain

This spot in Brooklyn really was an apothecary in the 1920s, though it now serves up a huge assortment of old school sundaes, milkshakes, floats, and more. It's got the charm of a diner with all the sweets to satisfy any sweet tooth.

Il Labratorio del Gelato

Choose from 48 flavors at any given time, try new things at the tasting room, and don't be afraid of getting too many samples. That's what this place is all about so whether you're into the classics or want to try something truly novel, they've got you covered.
