Take a Michi-gander At This
I took a break from the Big Apple this weekend, traded in the Empire State for something a little more hardy -- Michigan. Though the forecast on my iPhone called for bleak and dreary days, it was sunny and bright, beautiful summer weather. Most of my family lives in Michigan, though I've only been to Michigan once when I was little, so I spent half the weekend trying to memorize names of relatives and discern how I was related to them (fourth cousin or fifth cousin, great aunt, related only by marriage -- does it really matter?) It was quite the whirlwind, but a welcome break from the recent grey skies of the city. We stayed at a lovely hotel called The Inn at St. Johns, which was attached to a church and its lush gardens, pictured here. (I wore a navy blue tank top from Zara, neon green shorts from JCrew, a white blazer from Bebe, JCrew circle necklace, and white Clarks loafers.)
