10 of the Best Rooftop Bars in Lisbon
With over 290 days of sunshine on average each year, you can make the most of Lisbon all year round. Plus, situated on seven hills, it’s a city of spectacular views. One of the best ways to enjoy the incredible weather and vistas is by spending your time outside at one of Lisbon’s many rooftop bars. Grab some friends and a cocktail to enjoy an infamous sunset setting over the Tagus River at any of these great spots:
Sky Bar at the Tivoli Lisboa
This is where I spent the evening of my birthday, enjoying a table with a group of friends while sipping sangria and watching the sunset. It’s everything I could ask for in a bar—great views, great cocktails, a little bit bougie, and an all around really fun time!
Rio Maravilha
In searching for rooftop spots that weren’t quite so teeming with tourists, I discovered Rio Maravilha at LX Factory, which is a trendy area near the 25 de Abril bridge that I would compare to Greenpoint in Brooklyn. The entrance here is a bit hard to spot, but as you’re walking along you’ll find it next to the sushi restaurant and take a rickety elevator up to a huge two story bar and restaurant! I thought the vibe here was awesome and I would highly recommend bringing all your friends.
Topo Chiado
This is a great spot right in the heart of Chiado. It’s one of the most touristy areas of the city, yet because this bar is tucked on the terraces behind the Santa Just a Elevator and the Convento do Carmo, it feels like a reprieve from the bustling streets below.
Silk Club
This stylish restaurant turns into a club after midnight, with stunning views over Lisbon. For a more low-key experience, head to the terrace for sunset cocktails and a fine dining dinner. Or if you’re looking for a party, the mood transforms after midnight, drawing a trendy crowd.
PARK
Aptly named, the PARK bar is actually a hip garden terrace situated atop a parking garage. It boasts 180 degree views of Lisbon, as well as great food and cocktails. In addition to a varied lineup of music, entertainment includes everything from outdoor movies to themed parties. You may want to get here early to grab a spot because it gets packed quickly as the sun goes down.
Memmo Alfama Terrace
Down a quiet alley in Alfama, you’ll find the Memmo Hotel, with its quiet rooftop that’s perfect to order some house tapas and a glass of Portuguese wine and gaze at the beautiful view over the river. I would recommend making a reservation as the space is not huge and priority goes to hotel guests.
Limão at H10 Duque de Loulé
Atop a luxury boutique hotel, the Limão Rooftop Bar offers a stylish summery aesthetic that perfectly complements its panoramic views over the city. The outdoor terrace is small but cozy and open all day long for whenever you’d like to stop in for some refreshing cocktails and tasty tapas.
Rooftop Bar at Hotel Mundial
One of Lisbon’s classics, it’s been popularized for its close up views facing the Castelo de São Jorge. With its prime location in the heart of Lisbon, 360 degree vistas, modern atmosphere, and variety of delicious drinks, it’s easy to understand why this rooftop is a favorite.
Chapitô à Mesa
This hidden gem is an eclectic circus-themed bar and restaurant behind a tiny jewelry and souvenir store and attached to a circus school. Head up several narrow sets of stairs to be greeted with an entirely unexpected but breathtaking view of Lisbon.
Terrace BA at the Bairro Alto Hotel
Right in the center of the city, this award-winning bar checks all the boxes. Grab a long lunch in the sunshine, stop for a break from sightseeing, or grab a sundowner, all with a view. It’s considered one of the best rooftop bars in Lisbon for good reason.
